For the people of our wonderful city, and for those who cherish the values and pride of this great Town, you will well know that the spirit of Oakland has always demanded that those of it and for it be unafraid to venture into new and bold directions.
For too long now Oakland has sat at a crossroads, with the rapid rise of “the new Oakland” quickly uprooting and replacing much of the legacy and tradition of what was before. While we celebrate the vibrancies which are still abundant in our Town, and as we too experience the excitement for the new energies now existing within Oakland, we nevertheless recognize the ever growing inequities embedded within this new chapter of our community. It therefore befalls us, those being for Oakland, to unite around the mission of ensuring that the future of our Town can be one in which Oakland can continue to feel connected and be enjoyed by all of those who value what our great community stands for. Through soccer we therefore seek to tap the power of sport as a vehicle for unifying Oaklanders, and people who love Oakland, and for maintaining the vital bonds of community as we forge ahead together into the future unknowns that our community will surely continue to face.

Our effort will not be perfect, as no human endeavor ever is. Our effort will not possess the wand of transformation brought on simply by waving it, as no great feat ever has. What our effort will be is a movement to live each day in the unwavering belief and intention of what Oakland can still be and most importantly, who it can be for and with. The Town is a home for some, but to us, it exists far beyond the confines of geography and beyond the lens of any one person or group. The Town is a collective, a state of mind, a vibe, an energy, and a vision of community with values which to this day still anchor Oakland, and the greater East Bay area. The Town unites. The Town inspires. The Town thrives through the magic that is Oakland, and retains its role in comprising the fabric of Oakland, the 510 and even our surrounding 925 communities. The Town is real. It’s present. And it’s worth fighting for.

We begin in our humble journey asking for your support, your open mindedness and your willingness to engage in our movement of bettering the Town through soccer. The crossroads at which Oakland sits can no longer accept idleness.
The road ahead will be long and there is surely much work to be done, but the benefit of results come only to those who take action. And so the time is now Oakland, and the time is now for the Town FC to take action to deliver an authentically Oakland professional soccer team to our community.
