The Town FC is excited to welcome Jan Eric Nordmo as the latest addition to The Town Council.
Nordmo joins The Town FC having owned and operated highly successful indoor sports arenas across California and the West Coast, as well as having served as an advisor for countless indoor and arena based sports ventures around the country. He is the 30 year running owner/operator of Santa Clara based “Off The Wall Soccer”, and its parent company Arena Soccer Centers Inc, and has held numerous coaching roles across the youth and collegiate soccer spaces over his three decade plus career in the sport.
As a Director, he spent 11 years helping lead the US Indoor Sports Association, working with their 450+ members to serve the diverse needs of a thriving indoor sports industry. He’s also held past leadership roles as the Director of Coaching Education for the Liverpool FC International Academy (Bay Area), as well as Director of Coaching for South Bay based Los Gatos United. As a head coach, he spent 7 years at Ohlone College, winning conference “Coach of The Year” honors in both 2009 and 2010 and has held additional past roles at UC Santa Cruz (NCAA D3) and Real San Jose (NPSL). He currently works as a Senior Staff Coach and coaching mentor for Cal North ODP and as a coaching educator for US Soccer.
Beyond the field, he is a past Président of the Rotary club of Santa Clara and has been heavily involved within his community through his local chamber of commerce, as well as with the Boy Scouts of America.
“As a former player of Jan’s, I can speak first hand to the values he brings as a human being, as a coach and as a leader of people,” said Benno Nagel of The Town FC. “When you look at his career accomplishments he’s obviously been able to drive tremendous success for several of his ventures, but the fact that he has done so while maintaining his high moral values and overall commitment to giving back to his community just speaks volumes to what he brings to our endeavor. We’re excited to get him on board with helping us lift this project off the ground and know that we’re adding a true expert in our ability to think through the work to be done on the field, and also in our efforts to reimagine what creating safe spaces to play can look like within The Town.”
Jan had this to say on his joining The Town FC, “The game of soccer is rather simple. It’s simplicity is a characteristic that attracts people around the world. The ”business of soccer” is where the complexity of the game can become overwhelming and I believe that few can assume this type of challenge successfully. The founders of The Town FC have undertaken a meaningful challenge with a strong vision, a clear mission, and a talented crew of people. I am pleased to be a part, and to have the opportunity to continue with them in this endeavor. As a player, Benno was always up for challenges. As a soccer business person, I have little concern and am very expectant that The Town Council and the Town FC supporters will amaze all with the outcome of this project. The Town FC is at the feet of a talented group and I look forward to seeing more people of shared purpose join our team in the near future.”
