Seasoned Coach and Entrepreneur Bejan Esmail joins The Town Council

The Town FC welcomes East Bay resident and long standing community soccer leader Bejan Esmail to The Town Council.  Bejan was a collegiate All American at West Valley College before transferring to UC Berkeley to finish his NCAA career.  After college, he spent 10 years as an investment advisor for Morgan Stanley, working with professional athletes on their financial strategies and managing their investment portfolios.  His circle extends to long standing friendships and business relationships with US Soccer legends such as Claudio Reyna, Carlos Bocanegra, Tim Howard and Maurice Edu.  A socially driven entrepreneur at heart, he’s currently the founder of Footymarket; a venture which he launched with longtime partner and USMNT/MLS player Jozy Altidore which seeks to disrupt the used sports resale market through growing equitable access to second hand gear.

On the soccer field, Bejan has spent the last 36 years as a head coach at various levels of play.  Most recently, he guided East Bay based NPSL side Contra Costa FC through to the 1st round of the US Open Cup, losing to the Portland Timbers 2 while playing with a squad mainly composed of 17-19 year olds from the 510.  His passion for growing the game and his commitment to the local community make him an invaluable addition to our club.

The Town FC cofounder Chris Payne had this to say on Bejan’s addition to The Town FC.  “Bejan is a rare individual in that he’s spent an entire lifetime working with youth soccer players in highly challenged day to day situations and has never once stopped being an available resource for his community despite the hardships faced in doing so. The fact that his commitment to remain as leader and mentor for countless youth has not wavered for over three decades is something to be honored and emulated.  We’re excited to bring him into the fold as our men’s program takes shape and can’t wait to work with him to build an environment that can truly make a difference in young players’ lives.”
