The Town, CA — April 13 2025 — The Town FC is proud to announce the appointment of Richard Weiszmann as the Academy Technical Director, bringing decades of experience and a deep connection to the East Bay soccer community into this new leadership role.

A Cal Berkeley men’s soccer alum and a veteran of Major League Soccer’s founding era with the New England Revolution, Weiszmann brings both elite playing pedigree and a proven track record in youth development to The Town FC Academy.

He also holds a USSF A License, the highest youth coaching certification offered by U.S. Soccer, underscoring his commitment to developing players and coaches at the highest level.

Following his professional playing career, Weiszmann has spent years building and shaping talent across the East Bay, guiding countless players to NCAA programs and the professional game. His leadership will be instrumental in aligning the Academy’s coaching standards, playing philosophy, and long-term development pathway with the club’s bold vision for soccer in the region.

“Richard’s roots in the local game and his experience at the highest levels make him the perfect person to lead our Academy’s technical direction,” said Benno Nagel, President of The Town Group. “He understands what it takes to reach the next level—and more importantly, he knows how to build environments where young players and coaches can thrive.”

As Academy Technical Director, Weiszmann will oversee the Academy’s coaching staff, curriculum, and player development systems, ensuring every team across the MLS NEXT age groups is positioned for both competitive success and personal growth.

The appointment signals The Town FC’s continued commitment to raising the standard for youth soccer in the Bay Area through a community-first model that prioritizes access, development, and collaboration.
