The Town FC falls to Austin FC II in regular-season finale

The Town FC will learn which opponent it will face on Thursday and will have the opportunity to host one of the No. 5-8 seeds.

MORAGA, Calif. — The Town FC concluded its fourth regular season in franchise history with a 2-1 loss to Austin FC II at The Park at Saint Mary’s Stadium on Decision Day.

TTFC finishes its 28-game slate with a 14-8-6 record, 52 points and the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference.

Austin scored the opening goal in the 43rd minute thanks to Bryant Farkarlun, but The Town FC quickly responded. Nick Fernandez timed his surge to the net and received a timely feed from Riley Lynch, tapping in the equalizer in the 48th minute.

But TTFC wasn’t able to score again, and Austin capitalized off an 80th-minute, post-deflecting shot from Jorge Alastuey that found its way in.

The 2-1 finish marked the teams’ first matchup since Decision Day in 2024, when The Town FC clinched the Pacific Division. With Austin eliminated, the two sides won’t face off again in 2025.

Goalkeeper Francesco Montali left the match early for The Town FC. Luca Ulrich replaced him.

FERNANDEZ ON FIRE:

Fernandez scored his seventh goal of the season, tying him for the second-most on TTFC with Cruz Medina and Missael Rodriguez. Fernandez has proven himself in 2025, earning first-team minutes in just his first year with the organization. The University of Portland alum was picked No. 32 overall by the San Jose Earthquakes in last December’s SuperDraft.

As the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference, The Town FC will host and select its opponent from the No. 5-8 seeds to face in the Conference Quarterfinal round. This round will take place Oct. 17-19, and if TTFC wins, it will advance to the Conference Semifinals.
