The Town FC’s home opener went as planned, as the team scored five goals, including four in the second half, to beat its in-state rival, LAFC2.
MORAGA, Calif. — The Town FC couldn’t have asked for a better performance in their 2025 home opener against LAFC2. TTFC won 5-1 over its Southern California rival, giving over 1,800 fans goal-scoring excitement from the 10th minute until the end of the match.
The win was TTFC’s first of the 2025 season, bringing the club to a 1-3-1 record.
Jamar Ricketts opened up scoring with his first goal of the MLS NEXT Pro campaign, scoring off a set piece play that allowed him to take an uncontested shot from outside the box that sailed past LAFC2 goalkeeper Ethan Scally.
The Town FC never gave up the early lead and scored four times in the second half. LAFC2 played down a player for nearly half the match as defender Christian Díaz was given a red card in the 49th minute. TTFC took advantage of LAFC2’s shorthandedness, as Wilson Eisner scored five minutes after the foul.
Team captain Ricardo Ibarra scored two minutes after Eisner, taking a feed from Paul Marie and using his right foot, from inside the box, to tally another for The Town.
LAFC2’s lone goal came from Érick Díaz in the 68th minute, but it wasn’t enough to swing the momentum.
TTFC piled on two more goals, as Marie scored in the 88th minute and Chance Cowell capped off the team’s five-goal day with one of his own, two minutes into second-half stoppage time. Cowell, a second-half substitute, scored his first goal as a member of The Town FC after seeing limited action last season.
TTFC goalkeeper Francesco Montali saved five of the six shots on target he faced in his second start for the club.
The Town FC’s homestand will span over the next two games, as the team will host Timbers2 and St. Louis CITY2 before hitting the road again. After finishing a strong 7-1-6 at home in 2024, TTFC will hope for continued home success in its second season at The Park at Saint Mary’s Stadium. TTFC’s next match will be on May 4 at 5 p.m. against Timbers2.
