The Town FC only has one regulation loss across its last 14 matches, allowing it to rapidly climb the Western Conference ladder.
MORAGA, Calif. — The Town FC continued its near-perfect home play Saturday evening against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2, avoiding the shootout by finding the breakthrough winner in the final moments of regulation.
The 93rd-minute game-winner belonged to attacker Julian Donnery, who has been no stranger to clutch moments in 2025. Donnery’s goal was his third of the season, with all of his tallies arriving in the 91st minute or later.
The victory also featured goalkeeper Luca Ulrich making his second start of the season, and his first since April 23. The 22-year-old made two saves behind The Town FC’s stout defense.
The 2-1 finish extended TTFC’s unbeaten streak to seven matches, which has been highlighted by five consecutive regulation victories, maximizing the club’s point earnings. Before Saturday, The Town FC hadn’t faced Vancouver all season. The teams were supposed to meet in early June, but the match was postponed.
TTFC faced an early deficit as defender Wilson Eisner inadvertently deflected a Whitecaps FC 2 cross into Ulrich’s net, giving Vancouver an early 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute. The own-goal was an isolated incident; WFC2 struggled to create offense the rest of the match, only totaling eight shots to The Town FC’s 22.
Defender Alejandro Cano generated much-needed momentum for TTFC heading into halftime, scoring the equalizer during the dying seconds of first-half stoppage time. Cano put himself in an opportune position around the net after a long-range free kick, catching goalkeeper Isaac Francoeur out of position to find the back of the net. Cano’s tally was his second of the season, giving him more goals in 2025 than in 2024 and 2023 combined.
In the second half, The Town FC continued to pressure Francoeur, who was forced to make risky saves to keep the match level. But Donnery exploited a defensive hole in the 93rd minute, finishing a three-on-one chance to take the lead with only three minutes left in stoppage time, with Nonso Adimabua and Reid Roberts earning assists. Adimabua’s 13 goal contributions lead TTFC, as he is atop both the goals and assists leaderboards.
Close wins have characterized The Town FC’s recent hot streak. Saturday’s result was the team’s third one-goal win in its last four matches, with four total in 2025. The five-match regulation win streak is the longest such streak in TTFC history, and it is only three victories shy of the league record of eight, set by St. Louis CITY 2 this season.
The Town FC also only has one regulation loss in its last 14 matches, with the lone defeat coming against St. Louis. TTFC’s current seven-match unbeaten streak is its second stretch of at least six games without a loss this season.
The Town FC will conclude its brief home stand by welcoming Ventura County FC to Moraga on Aug. 15. The in-state rivals faced each other in late June, with TTFC prevailing in a shootout after a 1-1 draw in regulation.
With 18 points earned in its last seven matches, The Town FC has climbed to second place in the Western Conference, only trailing St. Louis. TTFC’s turnaround has taken the league by storm, considering the club began the season with a 0-3-1 record through its first four bouts.
TTFC will host VCFC at 5 p.m. on Friday at The Park at Saint Mary’s Stadium.
