The Town FC Announces Support for Professional Women’s Soccer and Joins New WPSL Pro Division

The Town, CA – The Town FC, an East Bay professional soccer startup, today announced its further support for the growth of professional women’s soccer through executing an LOI to join the new WPSL PRO. The Town FC is already set to join the WPSL amateur division in 2024, and through its LOI for WPSL PRO will now become the first team in the Bay Area to take the next step in that expansion pathway.

The WPSL PRO is a new third-division professional women’s soccer league that is tentatively set to launch in 2025. The WPSL PRO will offer a competitive platform that empowers women to pursue their dreams both on and off the field.

“We are excited to be a part of the growing momentum behind professional women’s soccer,” said The Town FC CEO Benno Nagel. “Women’s soccer is on the rise in the United States, and we believe that the WPSL PRO is a great platform for us to compete at a high level. We are committed to providing a professional environment for our players and staff, and we look forward to being a part of the future of professional women’s soccer in the Bay Area.”

As the top women’s professional soccer league in the country, the NWSL has seen a significant increase in attendance and viewership in recent years. Even the USWNT, champions of three out of the last four World Cups, are itching to expand the game and competitive opportunities for female athletes at all levels of the soccer pyramid after a disappointing 2023 performance.

At The Town FC, we recognize the demand for more competitive opportunities and the importance of supporting the growth of women’s soccer. The WPSLPRO will provide a new platform for women’s soccer players to push themselves to the highest level. The Town FC is proud to be a part of this growth and to support the future of women’s soccer in the Bay Area.
