The Town FC continues high-scoring frenzy with road win over LAFC 2

The Town FC has been one of the Western Conference’s most well-rounded teams in 2025, posting over 40 goals while only conceding 24.

FULLERTON, Calif. — The Town FC’s 4-3 win over LAFC 2 on Sunday evening at Titan Stadium exuded its ability to stay composed in the second half, find production from its well-oiled offensive machine and take care of business away from home.

Down 4-2 with less than 20 minutes remaining in the match, LAFC 2 cut a two-goal deficit to one, forcing TTFC to protect its late lead, something the club is no stranger to. The result was The Town FC’s third one-goal victory of the season and its second in its last three games, speaking to the club’s ability to crank out clutch performances when needed most.

The cast of contributors consisted of the usual suspects for The Town FC. When LAFC 2’s Tommy Mihalić scored his first of two goals in the 5th minute, TTFC leaned on its high-motor attacking rushes to get back into the game.

Midfielder Nick Fernandez tied up the match at one in the 28th minute, taking advantage of pesky TTFC defense to win the ball and find the back of the net. Ten minutes later, forward Missael Rodríguez complemented Fernandez’s efforts with a goal of his own, off a similar sequence. Rodríguez launched a right-footed shot from well outside the box to get on the board, his sixth goal in his last nine appearances.

After a 53rd-minute Matthew Evans equalizer for LAFC 2, The Town FC was forced to get back on its toes. A deep free kick in the 62nd minute saw Nonso Adimabua get tripped up in the attacking box, allowing Cruz Medina to sink a penalty kick one minute later to give TTFC the 3-2 edge.

Medina’s tally continued his recent surge after he tallied a hat trick over Real Monarchs in TTFC’s last match. His one-goal, one-assist outing also extended his contribution streak to four matches, with four goals and three assists across the span.

Fernandez’s second goal gave The Town FC enough breathing room to eventually earn three points. His fourth goal of the year arrived in the 65th minute, when he received a cerebral feed from Chance Cowell, staying onside and burying the cherry on top in TTFC’s offensive onslaught.

Mihalić completed his brace in the 72nd minute, but TTFC held on to achieve the 4-3 victory. The triumph was The Town FC’s third over LAFC 2 this season — good for a season sweep.

The Town FC’s win also extended its unbeaten streak to six matches. The streak has not only allowed the club to exponentially climb the Western Conference ladder, but has also displayed its ability to turn defense into offense and play as a cohesive unit.

The Town FC’s 42 goals scored are the second-most in the West, while its mere 24 conceded scores are the second-lowest. With roughly two months until the playoffs, TTFC will hope that its well-roundedness will continue to come in handy.

On top of the unbeaten streak, The Town FC extended its regulation-victory streak to four matches, one which hasn’t featured TTFC scoring fewer than three goals each time. It has also allowed the club to jump to fourth place in the conference.

As returning players like Medina continue their production from TTFC’s inaugural campaign in 2024, newcomers like Fernandez and Rodríguez provide needed support to make The Town FC a serious threat once again. Although roster turnover is beneficial, The Town FC has proved that it isn’t completely necessary to continue competing at a high level.

The Town FC will return home for two consecutive matches before hitting the road again. August — the club’s busiest month — will act as a litmus test for TTFC’s composure, as it will play five more matches before September.

Whitecaps FC 2 will visit The Park at Saint Mary’s Stadium on Aug. 9, as The Town FC will aim to continue racking up points.
