Oakland, CA, March, 20, 2023 – The Town FC has announced the launch of its charitable arm, The Town Futures Project, which will focus on providing support of community improvement projects, operational assistance to youth based sports organizations and a collaborative effort to generate and route resources that can benefit healthy community in the Oakland/East Bay region. The project will also be home to The Town FC’s future youth academy, which will be formed as an effort to advance the development pathway for young players in the Oakland/East Bay region.
The Town Futures Project will utilize revenue generated by The Town FC towards purpose-driven work in the local community. The project will aim to receive direct support through cause based fundraising and will pursue other forms of organizational support to propel its operation. Working closely with community leaders, local organizations and other members of the Oakland/East Bay region, they will identify areas of need and develop effective solutions through collaboration and shared values.
“Although we are a young organization, we feel it’s imperative to develop an organizational purpose set on driving real change at the community and grassroots level and wanted to make that purpose a founding part of the fabric of The Town FC” said co-founder Tennyson Wilson, “the launch of The Town Futures Project is a natural progression of our club’s commitment to making a positive impact locally.”
The Town Futures Project will look to connect with the community and identify initial opportunities during the early half of 2023 while they continue to build their professional women’s and men’s teams, and overall club footprint. The organization recently announced their entry into the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL), the largest women’s league in the world, beginning with the 2024 season of play. The club also announced its intent to pursue progression into the newly created WPSL Pro, a third division professional women’s soccer league set to kickoff in 2025.
