The Town FC has two matches remaining after its 1-0 loss to the Tacoma Defiance on Sunday.
MORAGA, Calif. — The Town FC’s league-best 11-match home unbeaten streak came to an end on Sunday at the hands of the Tacoma Defiance.
Already in a playoff spot, TTFC was competing for postseason seeding, while Tacoma — already eliminated — was looking for the road upset. The Defiance won 1-0 thanks to a first-half stoppage time breakthrough from Charlie Gaffney.
The Town FC had to navigate losing top scorer Nonso Adimabua in the 42nd minute when he was shown a ref card after making off-ball contact. Adimabua’s absence limited TTFC’s offense, which still produced shots, but couldn’t score.
PLAYOFF WATCH:
At second place in the Western Conference with two matches left to play, The Town FC is likely to be a top-three seed for the second year in a row.
All but one West playoff spot has been clinched, with all three Texas-based clubs (North Texas, Austin, Houston) fighting for the eighth and final bid.

The matches will be split between PayPal Park in San Jose and The Park at Saint Mary’s Stadium in Moraga.
